ABOUT
ABOUT
Johanna Rosario has turned survival into fuel for her passion. Born in NYC and raised between the boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx, from a young age, she has worked relentlessly while nurturing a deep love for the arts. After earning her associate’s degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Johanna discovered a new creative spark through film and television. She has learned the craft of storytelling—directing, filming, editing, and writing—eventually co-founding Tehuti Films alongside her husband.
For over 10 years, she has shaped and elevated brand identities through strategic storytelling, blending broadcast journalism and cinematic content to craft compelling narratives that engage, inform, and inspire audiences. Her work spans global social, political, and cultural issues.
Johanna Produced and Co-edited the award-winning 2020 People’s Choice documentary "HAPI: The Role of Economics and the Origins of Civilization," now on Vimeo, and Co-directed “Sacred Woman: We Are Here and We Do Remember,” a 7-part series on wellness practices among Indigenous and African American women, winner of the 2022 Black Girls Rock Film Festival.
With unyielding passion to sharpen her craft, Johanna returned to school and graduated at the top of her class from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a degree in Film & Television.
Over the years, Johanna has interviewed and filmed iconic figures such as Mary J. Blige, Lenny Kravitz, Erykah Badu, and Lauren London to name a few. Johanna currently works as an assistant editor for Fox Soul’s Urban MD TV while finalizing her narrative short film, Bodega Diaries - a personal story set in a gentrifying Bronx neighborhood, where a resilient young girl navigates love, loss, and loyalty inside her family's bodega, a place where every shelf holds a secret and survival is sold by the ounce.
Johanna is dedicated to amplifying Black Indigenous narratives, creating space for collaboration among leaders, artists, and entrepreneurs. Through these lived experiences and creative pursuits, she aims to fully realize her directorial vision—using the power of storytelling as a vehicle for cultural transformation and lasting impact.
